If my LDL was high and HDL lower than optimum I might take a Statin or I might take some Niacin supplementation. The point being that there are many other options and besides, the question is NOT whether I really need to reduce TGs at that level so much as whether TGs is a RISK factor for CVD

You obviously have a normal lipid profile and have never taken a high dose statin or niacin - because if you had, you wouldn't be writing that stuff - they are horrible, horrible drugs to take. Ask any one of the many on this board who HAVE taken them in the past, including me - Vascepa is manna from heaven compared to those crap drugs. Oh, and if you had high TGs, your doc would absolutely have you taking some drugs to reduce them - I've taken every damn one of them in the past even though LDL was normal/borderline high, none of them worked, but guess what did? OTC fish oil and garlic! Still take the garlic, has other beneficial properties, and have swapped out the OTC fish oil for V, couldn't be happier, especially with the wonderful unadvertised beneficial side effects other users here also experience.
