Some studies have shown that cannaboids in marijuana do kill cancerous cells. When marijuana gets rescheduled to schedule 2, it will allow for a greater amount of research on this topic. So unfortunately for now, you are right, MJ can only mask side effects, but one day it potentially could be used to help fight cancer.
