Waxmaster-Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. Thank you for sending me back for another look. There it was, Atmel 97SC3203 (tpm 1.2), right in the architecture details. I found it on 12 models of the ThinkPad PC. I hope that the bulk of future ThinkPad sales will be these 12 models.
All the rest of the ThinkPads had either NS Super I/O integrated security chip or the Atmel security chip that sometimes read 1.1 or just TCG compliant. None of these models showed the Atmel IC number. This reinforces my thoughts about a large portion of 25 million PCs that will need to upgrade.
Elan, I admit, I was a little worried about the software rep knowing how to find what he was looking for, but then I thought the Intel 945GM Express Chipset was not the right one either to have Wave associated software. I was wrong about the chipset. I actually talked to a hardware engineer and a software engineer and struck out twice, I guess.
Anyway, I am going back to counting the dimes.
