Claire, Josef, hi - yeah it smells like a bit of a gold bull coming, doesn't it ... but you know, i thought that in the dog days of summer 1997 too, loaded up on juniors to catch the september rally -g- ... then again in taxloss time that year, thought the pickings just looked too attractive ... aaargh ... i've learned to trade them more carefully since, to take a more cynical view of market perceptions ... TA has been very useful in that, and lately especially the galleryview charts from these people - http://stockcharts.com/

Those goldbugger sites like the-privateer and gold-eagle can sure get you worked up into a buying mood, eh ... but they've been saying the same thing for years ... there are those who call the latter 'lead-ostrich' -g- .... still, looks like a little air could come out of the US dollar index, and if that got on a roll gold should do well, since it is in US dollars we tend to quantify it ... gold has risen in a number of other currencies ... on this site you can plot most currencies against Au, Ag, Pt - http://pacific.commerce.ubc.ca/xr/plot.html

Josef, in the header you specify no mention of individual stocks - so do you mean to develop this as a 'Gold Price Monitor' thread? ... the wording does sort of make it look like a links storage area only ... what do you think of a separate thread for 'precious metals stocks'? ... although, you know, i often feel copper plays get sort of neglected, even more than PMs have in this five-year bear of all metals .... but that might be too broad to head it 'mining stocks' ... i dunno, whaddaya think? ..... bienvenue, Claire ... salut
