It also kinda supports the view that it isn't going to happen on its own - eg federal government encouragement is required to put TPMs in tablets and phones. [I hear an echo of the words of SS in this sentence]
Do I have faith that the recommendations will be followed by the US government when implementing policy? No. I'll wait to see if they are. Incumbent influence lurks along this road.
Solms has connections in the military and experience selling IT solutions to the gov't.; perhaps he can use them to Wave's advantage in selling Virtual Smart Card. Using Wave's TPM zero-touch technology (backwards compatible to Win Vista), Wave VSC is a relatively easy integration into the customer's existing infrastructure.
The PCAST report may not be a bad thing for Solms and Wave as a sales talking point, in fact I saw he was interviewed for the DarkReading article.
