I gleaned from Glenton's post that VPC has been part of the R&D of the machines since VPC has actual Engel machine(s). Perhaps VPC was not aware at the time that Engel would ultimately be selling these machines to other manufacturers.

Hi Steve. Thanks for your post. It's hard to answer your question exactly. If you talk to people in these industries they'll tell you that products are years in development. Part of that is that they need to qualify an entire system, of which the Liquidmetal component is just one part. Part of it is that our process and material has been changed during the course of our R&D. Our contract manufacturer has now been running the same process for a year, and they tell us they are going to finalize their ISO certification soon. This means that the medical and aerospace engineers will be able to rely on our production parts being consistently the same as the prototypes that they've been testing. But each iteration is a considerable undertaking. Especially when there is some amount of redesign to take advantage of the Liquidmetal properties.
