Holding through earnings is just one word ---gambling. I did lose in SANM and even holding CREE calls through earnings. What I do though is weigh as much techno-fundamentals as I can into the decision and never more than about 1k shares even if the stock is trading at 5 bucks (The next morning however I might add as much as I feel apppropriate). I did it with TXN, COF, LRCX even IBM (just the calls) but the hold through earnings decision is only about 15% to 20% of the plays and among those its mostly just option plays. Never believe those that come out of the wordwork when the coast is clear claiming to be long. Follow at the end of the session if traders are still long or just sort of fade away only to appear after a pullback has rallied before claiming "a win"... Make sure you have a record of when they 'entered' the trade not just how much they made in the trade some time "x" in the future. I do enter my trades before I post about half the time so I try to make up for it with clear chart formations BEFOREHAND of where I intend to enter. I have lost many trades in the past by focusing 100% on the subscriber, thereby missing the trade on my own. Since I make way more $$$ trading than holding 'rooms or services' not like in the past during the bull market and we were 'loaded' with subscribers, I have to sacrifice a little for the good of the trade. By putting up many charts, strategies, and a watch list at least folks can be 'prepared' and "see" what I see when I do enter.

MCRL could have been a loser much like RFMD was tonight but then I would probably have made some $$ on a gap 'n recovery (like I might do with CYMI)

If you saw COF today you can understand exactly what a gap'n fill is. Often you can make better gains if you short a rally or buy a pullback for the 'gap fill' eBAY drove me nuts today I was really wanting to put some big money into it and it was just going nowhere. I wanted big points not just a point. It finally did after the close, but I was FLAT INTO THE CLOSE.
