A larger cache A64 is going to be too expensive to make.
That may be true. I'm wondering if the A64 is going to die the duron's death at the hands of prescott, and if 1xx series opterons are going to take up the low end space. It would be a smallish cache opteron (256KB), but would have the benefit of the dual-channel memory, which would hopefully mask some of the cache problems without costing many $s of die space to do so.
