No Keith its your strawman to say they need to be launched. All they need be is available for sale. Thus AMD needs only to ship one grade more, not two as you state.

As I stated, launching is irrelevant. Given that they are in the field, launching it is a formality, not a requirement.

Which would you rather have x90's in the hand and available for sale or x90's launched? Having 3.73GHz Dempsey on Bensley launched doesn't mean a thing if they are not available. I remember when Intel didn't have any of a flagship SKU available for 5 months after launch.

To reiterate, 95W TDP Opteron 285s are in the field. In fact, those in the know stated that AMD didn't give SUN 285 SEs at 110W, but simply started shipping 285s at the standard 95W TDP with Sun allowed to sell them before others ala Apple wrt Intel Yonah.
