I would argue that the studies for pharmaceuticals have much larger scales.

Most supplements also have a much longer history of studies than Anatabine has.

As far as safety issues... there really isn't enough scale to make any conclusive determinations. 20K users is nothing. And the FDA requirements for tracking side effects are different for supplements vs drugs. There may have been some isolated side effects that simply aren't known to the public or STSI.
