ANY country appealing to back their currency with REAL money is more American than the American Ponzi. Your statement of Asians aside, it doesn't matter WHO would make such a move, only that it is understandable strategy to preserve solvency and the integrity of any currency. Chinamen that helped build some railroads were tossed off a cliff when their use was deemed concluded, chinamen helping to work the mines were slaughtered in miner's rebellions through hate and greed.. those kinds of legacies we "Americans" hide. Racisms, slaughter of natives to claim a "God given" land.. dont even get me started, im of asian, german, french, english and cherokee descent, race is vestigial at best and if it were Africa or Europe or Asia or the Americas that want to back their currency with REAL money I couldnt help but deem it only logical. Keep race out of the equation, trust is something you Earn, and the US isn't quite the poster-child of Trust now is it?
