I have been thinking; obviously there would be a patent for the "add-on" for the engel machines ... Would that be held in Crucible ... iow, would Apple have the rights to it. I think apple would want to mfg their own parts meaning they would need a machine, and to make LQMT parts they will either need to design their own add-on or machine from scratch, or get these machines and/or add-on parts from Engel. Since LQMT was part of the design team, I would assume that they have a say in how the add-on gets licensed. Could this in fact be a way to generate revenue from apple? Also, when companies purchase injection molding machines, is it generally a one-time payment or is it more like licensing (pay $x.xx per x amount of pieces made)? Obviously there will be a cost to have engel support the machines as well (if the company wanted to pay it) ... Would LQMT engineers be part of the support team (aka revenue)?? I think it's great that the part will work with existing machines though I've no idea how many it is compatible with or who owns them.
