I think it's worth examining the paragraph in the press release again.


The BPA recognizes ORC as a fully operational ACES and Shared Services Provider (SSP) as well as a provider of Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) products and services. Further, the BPA also recognizes the ORC team as the only provider of Personnel Identity Verification (PIV) ready solutions for HSPD-12 products and services. The combined products of ORC and Wave offer HSPD-12 ready solutions for both “logical” and “physical” security.

Note These words only provider of Personal Identity Verification solutions for HSPD-12 solutions for both logical and physical security.

In trying to understand how "physical" and "logical" are being used as IT terminology here - I found this which further explains the Wave PR

ORC operates a government-compliant authentication-based system for electronic communications between the government and members of the general public at Assurance Levels 1 through 4. This BPA augments ORC's unique expertise as the first federal provider of Personal Identity Verification (PIV)-ready solutions.

Under the terms of the BPA, ORC's ACES certificates are intended for use by the Federal government, state and local units of government, Native American tribal units, educational institutions, and non-government entities, including the general public and commercial business entities.

Again HPSD is a presidential executive order REQUIRING Federal agencies to upgrade their identity security structures. Wave is closely identified with the only organization that has already received certificate authentication by the Feds. This automatically allows every other governmental organization to use AND INTEGRATE with Wave's stuff.

As always the time frame is a bit uncertain, but this time the deadline is in the rear view mirror not a bit of light at the end of an endless tunnel.

In any case, remember when we had to struggle how to find Wave on the Dell site. Seems we just solved that struggle for any government procurer trying to meet HSPD-12 REQUIREMENTS. Word will get out. The wonderful (or terrible) thing about modern communications is that on Friday nobody can know your name and on Monday you're the talk at EVERY office meeting.
