Well put RickFace, this is my response to various posts out there all rolled into one of X’s big fat incoherent babbling messes. Many on here spend their whole life worrying and complaining, the science out there can make your head spin and there is plenty to read. IMO the U of W is another SSDD thing. It looks like the U of W may be teeing up another one and why not it worked out well for them with Lumera/Gig, I bet that they sold out Lumera (adjusted for the reverse split) at North of 20 Bucks, they made a mint not bad for something others paid for. If you’ve followed this from the days when the Goetz’s were down in Aberdeen it was the same thing. U of W was able to get the grants, (pretty much all the grants) which left the Goetzs stranded and hence Lightwave was born, I think it was Andrew doing submissions for Lightwave Vs. Dalton at the U of W and I think Dalton sat on or was affiliated with some of the committees that provided the awards. No doubt about though Alex Jen is one Smart Dude, I hope he does well in the solar market it could help us all.

On the SBIR front I think if we look back lightwave was still not able to consistently reproduce batches of perk in 2011 (they only opened the new lab in June of 2012.) That SBIR reads “These highly efficient EO material systems will be routinely produced in sufficient quantities (10-100 grams) to demonstrate their synthetic scalability and reproducibility.”

Here it is October 2012

Material Consistency and Reproducibility
“I am happy to report that we are making outstanding progress toward consistent and reproducible performance and scaling up of our materials. Utilizing new analytical and preparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) we have now been able to achieve greater than 98% purity of Perkinamine NRTM. We have never before achieved this level of purity, which has impeded our ability to obtain the repeatability required for the commercialization of our materials.”

Has it ever crossed anyones mind that the proprietary cladding used by the LSS is also a Sol-Gel process and who might be working on that?

As for the solar front when Miller was questioned about it he said something to the effect that “in his opinion at this time it is an area that he did not think that we should play in”

Oh and wasn’t the question to Z something like Are you aware of any other public companies, valuation kinda thing? But whatever, you remember Eaton saying many time that we were not the only player with the LSS. Oh and You heard Bintz talk about the unique properties Perkinamine has that push comes to show would enable tradeoffs.

Still saying that they will get this to work in a number of devices it most certainly will not address every niche in every market out there that would be impossible. Again I just look at the quality of the talent in such a small company. Still long and strong, but hey if some think they have found something better then place your bets there (if they are public), whatever makes you happy. I’d say the last 10 IPO’s I participated in crapped the bed.

Oh on the Management trading front “Illegal insider trading refers generally to buying or selling a security, in breach of a fiduciary duty or other relationship of trust and confidence, while in possession of material, nonpublic information about the security.” IMO there are multiple reasons these guys, especially Leonberger cannot trade the stock. Take a moment to read the following I still say that without a systematic automatic plan locked in place that they can not alter that management is not allowed to buy the stock.

For those that want to hear this sort of science explained here is excellent 2009 video by Jen. Bottom line was that at the time it costs too much, does not last long enough and apparently was not stable enough to be a commercially viable product, perhaps now it is this is bassackwards electrons producing not controlling Photons, many of the same processes though, close but not the same market. As Z said one time, many things that you read about are only practical in the lab.
