Houston, we have a problem. Wonder if you guys know if MOP can pick up the sugar cane by-product, molasses. This substance has the consistency of a light oil. Matson container ships was pumping the molasses from an onshore reservoir to a ship when a pipeline cracked and the result is 250,000+ gallons spilled into Honolulu harbor. We have a major ecological disaster going on right now. If someone knows who to contact at MOP, please have them call the Honolulu
department of transportation with a solution (if mop can resolve this horrible situation). Apparently the molasses blocks oxygen necessary for marine life to survive. We've got dead fishes, eels, other marine life and worst of all, the dead animals will bring bacterial blooms to the area and kill off coral, and other reef life. If MOP could work, I believe Matson might be responsible for payment. Certainly the DOT should be able to confirm. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.
