"Do you think no buyout because BP is unwilling to put down the $15 Billion plus now?"..

Yes I do think that is the problem..

I think you, I and Joe Z, have a better idea about the "potential" value of this drug than most readers here and on Yahoo, most physicians including even the cardiologists who are active in this field..and certainly the fogbound senior BP execs who make the big decisions.

Why do I feel this way. How can I say the cardiologists and the BPs have got it wrong?

There is a curious paradox that exists in medicine..First off in clinical medicine the patients do not get to vote on who the best doctors are..Medicine, Academic Medicine is a hierarchy. Doctors advance in the medical hierarchy the same way they do in corporations. There is some attention payed to ability, but most success is based on social skills..Also, there is absolutely no reward based on forward thinking..The science of medicine has advanced into the 21st century, buy a good deal of clinical thinking is still a century behind..

Clinicians are busy people and they have a difficult time keeping up with scientific progress..It becomes even more difficult in areas like atherosclerosis, and diabetes where there are conflicting theories and ideas on treatment...This has led to an I'm from Missouri attitude where doctors want to see the "Car Fax"..which mainly translates to a prospective clinical outcomes study..Eicosanoids are not part of mainstream medicine so regardless how compelling the evidence is that AMIs are really the result of inflammation rather than cholesterol build up, it is going to take time and effort to get this information out.

Vascepa does have an X-Factor in its favor, that is that many of the conditions that V is likely to improve, inflammatory conditions, are associated with pain or discomfort. Pain is something people will do something about..That even includes non compliants. Also one group that V will target is T2 diabetics, and they by necessity must learn about their disease..and they will keep up to date even if their doctors do not..

So I do agree with you that the V is enormous...and eventually we will get a good portion of it...Just that we are ahead of the curve..
