CES and Wave

Just got back from CES this am. Lots of "cool" stuff. Not enough time and certainly not enough $$$.

The Playstation 3 demo was unreal. Graphics were nearly "life like." Getting closer to virtual reality.

2006 will be a big push of ViiV by Intel. A nice display and lots of activity. I didn't see anything directly tied to Wave.

Dell was only showing consumer equipment, no business machines. I asked the rep about the time line for TPM on the consumer side. "Not his area of expertise." They did have displayed the baddest gaming computer in town. It had lots of "dual cores", "overclocks", "gigas" and "megas", and 4 chained high end video cards. Three were to be auctioned off at the show and Dell was going to do a production run of only 25 more. So get your orders in boy and girls.

Next stopped at the Seagate booth and asked about the 5400 FDE full encrypted drive. It was not being displayed. The rep didn't say so, but once again the emphasis was strictly "consumer" rather than business.

HOWEVER

While watching the demo of their new wireless USB drive I spotted an interesting thing on the computer running the demo.

The Seagate rep didn't know a thing about it. He said "it's something the engineers have been working with."

Now if we can just get that "Wave Leadership in Trusted Computing" message on the world's largest plasma TV, we will have arrived in spades.

That's all I know folks! I only had 6 hours to cover 28 football fields worth so I may have missed something.
