In high tech, the name of the game is NEVER get caught by surprise (a new competitor from "out of the blue") (People get terminated for not seeing it coming!)

KBLB is aware of them. Yes they are watching, but the statement....

"we are creating what we believe will be the world's first commercial scale production of recombinant spider silk." ....still holds true. "The" name of the game? Maybe "A" name of the game, but not THE name of the game.

Termination is rare in high tech. It is not common. There are many closely guarded secrets, not just in high tech, but to say "never be surprised".... I just disagree. The name of the game, is and will always be innovation. A very close second is marketing. The great ones are those that are best at it. I am not saying to not keep an eye on, in our case Spiber. I am saying that they are not relevant, until they innovate enough to be a threat to Monster Silk.(or better) KBLB has agreements to keep using Notre Dame and they pay to expand working knowledge there. Same with UW. They are doing our innovating.

So this is just to say that I disagree on what is relevant. Spiber is a shadow, until something more materializes. They become relevant when they can compete. When someone gets there, it really shouldn't be a surprise. There is relevance to being aware of a shadow, but given the failures to this point, they could(a possibility) always remain a shadow, just as easily as they could be a real threat. So far they have promise. Prove you are more, and instantly become a competitor. In the meantime, KBLB already has a technical textile fiber. Pretty funny that Kim says in the NR that "we believe" we will be the first to go into commercial production. It is common to expect surprises, or at least not be embarrassed.
