I think the gold stocks are better...like GLD. Physical gold is expensive, there are safety issues with holding large quantities of gold... hassle..blah blah blah. Lastly, and most importantly, you can easily off load stock if needed (stop losses if tanking), physical gold is a little harder.

I'm not an expert but hope that helps.
