WeakLegman (Lol) it takes a while to comprehend this technology, what they’ve got is the patented recipe to a chromophore(a dye, dyes control light) that can control light (photons) is stable, cheap and is compatible with CMOS temperatures and also silicon used in todays computers. This material will act as a bridge between the current copper/electrons technolgoy to tomorrows Electro Optical and on to All Optical. Todays modulators like a 40 gig are actually 4 x 10gig= 40 a hundred is 10x10 Lightwaves perk is fast enough to hit 100 Gig on a Single mode fiber. It is so fast that the government looked at it to filter out laser threats to military satellites but it was too fast for that application.

Perhaps A good place to start is to do a search on Fred Leonberger, he is a consultant for Lightwave, basically he is credited with creating todays Lithium Niobate Modulator and became the CTO at JDSU. OK so you have Fred and Joe Miller at this little company in Delaware. Joe Miller was Corning’s Executive V.P. & CTO. OK so it may be a pure coincidence that Joe Miller retired from Corning moved back home to Delaware and Fred Leonberger decided to work with Lightwaves Perkinamine, Both of these Cats are HIGHLY respected and yes it takes a while to sort out. Now we are seeing Intel collaborating with Corning a coincidence Perhaps.

Think of it as a Biotech Play with Computers, it has MANY, Many, uses (cures) .
