courtpuppy: I think you will find that patent troll (your term) stocks can still have plenty of value above cash.

The only thing that the veto does is to make it much harder to get an exclusion order issued at the ITC if SEPs are involved. Actual patent monetization through cash damages and a requirement to license are awarded in district court cases.

A supposed advantage of filing an infringement action at the ITC instead of a district court was a faster decision time; but, that is not necessarily so. Actually, as the statistic below points out, most of the infringement suits files by your so called patent trolls, have been filed in district courts


"In 2012, there were 4,446 patent lawsuits filed in U.S. district courts, up 15 percent from 2011, according to court data.

Last year, patent-assertion entities accounted for 62 percent of patent-infringement lawsuits, up from 29 percent of lawsuits two years earlier, according to studies cited by the White House."
