Merrill Lynch fired Steven Michael Mandala on July 29, 2009 because Steven Michael Mandala used false information about his previous experience/compensation to deceptively receive an upfront loan of $780,000 from Merrill Lynch. When Merrill Lynch demanded repayment of the loan, Steven Michael Mandala refused to pay.

FINRA subsequently banned Steven Michael Mandala from association with any FINRA member for life.

Merrill Lynch also filed criminal charges against Steven Michael Mandala who was found guilty in New York State Supreme Court of Identity Theft in the first degree (felony) and Grand Larceny in the second degree (felony) and sentenced to 2 - 5 years in prison along with restitution.
