Weby....I think it would help Wave, and others too.
While I am looking to the government and enterprise sectors to keep the doors open at present, I am not blind to the larger potential that the consumer side holds. I just don't see folks like my in-laws, or even many of my friends, making use of a technology that requires them to interrupt the boot process and go into the bios to set up. It's not that it is that hard, it isn't. But I still have the feeling that it stands as a barrier to wide-spread activation of TPMs in the consumer space. So if this new bios set-up would allow one to turn on and activate the TPM from the desk-top, then I think it would be a giant step forward in getting TPMs utilized in the largest market out there - the consumer market.
I agree that it is still too early to know if Wave gets the brass ring or not, but getting TPMs turned on and activated are necessary steps for Wave to stay on the ride and have a chance. IT professionals setting up Optiplex's on corpoprate networks will use the technology; will the typical Dimension buyers do so in their dens and home offices? Wave isn't the only player interested in the answer to that question.
