OSX on generic Intel hardware.

Isn't that what everyone said about iTunes DRM? And in fact (I really don't know), I assume FairPlay *is* cracked. But that does not keep the ITMS from getting millions of purchases. I'm fairly certain that Apple's lock on OSX to Apple hardware will be good enough. The few that want to jump through the hoops to do it will just be good advertising that this is an OS worth the effort.

Consider Ron's scenario of people buying a MacTel because they can use it to run Windows if needed, which eases the transition fears. I would think there is more positive to that story, than there is negative to some geeks hacking away to run OSX on a white box.

I'll be very surprised if it is *easy* to run OSX on generic hardware. I'll be equally surprised if the web is *not* full of reports of people doing it - but I expect they will need to go through some significant effort (SW and/or HW) to make it work.

Won't be long before we all know.
