But wouldnt it be nice if an alternative answer is that the new iphone will have a considerably higher price point (hopefully due to inclusion of LQMT) and they didnt want to exclude customers who were overextending themselves to buy an iphone before and now wont be able to because of cost.

Apple's business model doesn't usually raise the top price point. They shuffle older versions down.
