The Washington Nationals added a right-handed hitter to their bench on Sunday night, acquiring outfielder Scott Hairston from the Chicago Cubs for a minor-league pitcher, according to major league sources.
The deal will be announced Monday morning, sources said.
Hairston, 33, signed a two-year, $5 million free-agent contract with the Cubs last offseason but rarely played because of the lack of left-handed starters in the National League Central.[/I]
