Lower power means my machine will run cooler on average and means quieter operation. That's important enough for me to want to upgrade from this 2.6G Corei7 to Haswell but not enough for me to endure what I put up with on Win8 every time I have to bail out my wife on her laptop.

I'm waiting to see how "fixed" Win8.1 is before buying a copy of Win7. I would greatly prefer the security and performance features of Win8. They aren't minor IMNSHO.
