Can I assume from your comment that you agree? While his work is interesting for mm wave communications it is not competing in the same application space as Lightwave who is focusing on established um wave comunications.

Here is a good EETimes article describing the current state of the "silicon photonics integration". Remember that Tom said in his presentation that Lightwave has the "potential to leapfrog" silicon photonics. The industry is not going to wait for Lightwave's technology, but progress in silicon photonics is not necessarily a replacement for the Perk's either.

Lou's comment of "18-24 months to get designed in" was an important one for me. I now believe he was referring to the window for 100Gb/s connectors. He said we want to be on the doorstep with a process ready for when they "open the funnel". The funnel I believe is the demand for 100Gb/s connectors. Many other companies are pushing to be ready as well. But they don't have the Perks. We "hold the cards" because the Perk's have improved stability.
