right not exactly an MM

Some trades can be made directly through ECNs from one trader to another like with NASDAQ and some NYSE stocks. Really MMs are not needed at all on many stocks - the only times they are needed are on very lightly trades stocks

lets say you have 25k of a stock that trades 1000 shares a day - would be tough to sell with no buyers but an MM is suppose to "make" a market so he would buy your shares even if he does not want them then later he will sell to someone who does.

My broker on OTC stocks only sends orders to ARCA or NITE so I can decide which but ARCA often with CTGLF has few orders

The AMEX uses MMs named specialists like the NYSE but they are worse many times then MMs on OTC stocks - though on the AMEX also there are many stocks that can be done on ECNs - hopefully over time all stocks even pink sheets will be handles on ECNs more of the time
