Intel Celeron chip anchors $249 Acer Windows 7 lapto

Best Buy is set to launch its lowest-advertised-price laptop to date--an Acer model based on Intel's venerable Celeron chip.

Thought Netbooks were as low as a laptop's price can go? Another category of ultra-low-cost laptops has quietly emerged. These aren't small or ultra-thin or frugal with power consumption. There's nothing remarkable about these laptops--except price.

Best Buy said it will start selling on Wednesday the $249 Acer laptop--the retailer's lowest-advertised-price laptop ever. The laptop comes with an Intel Celeron processor, 15.4-inch screen, 2GB memory, a 160GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Premium. The model is available while supplies last.

Currently, the lowest-priced laptop listed on Best Buy's Web site is an Acer Aspire with an Advanced Micro Devices Athlon Processor (model: AS5532-553). On Tuesday, it was selling for $329.

Why the proliferation of low-cost laptops? "It's gone from one PC per household to one PC per person," said Justin Barber, a Best Buy spokesman. "And sometimes more than one laptop per person," he said, referring to Netbooks, which are marketed as companion devices to a higher-end PC.

At the core of the low-cost Acer laptop is an Intel Celeron Processor 900--not an Intel Atom chip, which is standard fare for sub-$300 Netbooks. The Celeron is a faster design than Atom: the 900 series packs 1MB cache of cache memory and is rated at 2.20GHz.

By comparison, the Z550 Atom is rated at 2.0GHz and integrates only 512K of cache. The Atom's performance is also hampered by fundamental design constraints: it is built for power efficiency not speed.

Netbooks continue to be the most popular low-cost laptop category, however. Best Buy lists dozens of Netbooks on its Web site from Hewlett-Packard, Asus, Samsung, Gateway, Nokia, Lenovo, and Toshiba, among others. Most are priced around $350.

Well I can see where you got the mistake from now.

The web site www.chinatechglobal.com/ is now what you are speaking about with regards to the school. So they didn't even have enough cash to keep the website rights.

I think anyone that is still looking at this board every once in a while, if there are any of you. I think we can officially close the book on this one. They stole our money those rat b$stards and never even let us know what happened in the end. I think that is what I am most pissed about. You know losing your shirt on something I can accept, but no word why or how is what really bothers me in the end.

Why do you think CTGLF owned Windsor Education Academy it says China Mobility Solutions, Inc. owned it. Diffirent company's?

I haven't really stayed in touch with this one. It's my understanding that the business aspect of the company is virtually dead in China. I believe they are still teaching English in Canada. I had originally found interest in the business aspect in China. Personally, I'm not interested in a company that only teaches English. Nice business, but not nice enough to keep me interested. Perhaps someone will buy them out. GL

Why do you think there isn't even a whisper of this company still being alive. I mean in North America you would atleast hear about a company that folded. Especially one that is on a recognized market?

This company must be dead, so I don't think there is any insight out there. No news since April of 2006? Over 2 years ago.

I can't believe that we haven't heard anything, like that it went bankrupt or was folded. Nothing, Nada. there are 263 million shares of this dead duck out there, and no one has mentioned anything in this long. I just don't get it.

This was a costly lesson for me in dealing with China. I will never again buy another China based company stock in my life. I will be paying for this gaff for another couple years.

I guess this is just how those morons in that part of the world operate. Good luck getting through this Olympics. If they do without any hitches it will be a miracle.

and ... that's the problem with technical analysis I think.

Golden Cross

What does it Mean? A crossover involving a security's
short-term moving average (such as 15-day moving average)
breaking above its long-term moving average (such as 50-day
moving average) or resistance level.



Investopedia Says... As long-term indicators carry more
weight, the Golden Cross indicates a bull market on the
horizon and is reinforced by high trading volumes.
Additionally, the long-term moving average becomes the new
support level in the rising market.

Technicians might see this cross as a sign
that the market has turned in favor of the stock.

That depends on what you want to see... that's the problem with technical analysis I think.

The RSI and MACD give a negative picture but

the MA50 crossed the MA200, if i'm correct they call that a golden cross. The MA200 should also give a huge support.

So if you are a believer you can say that thecnicals look good, if not technicals look bad
