I should have said "IMU-stabilized, high speed gimbal"--we were looking for stability of image at low cost and lightweight, not panning control. A fast pan just makes you dizzy when you watch the downlink. :<) A quick response gimbal with the right IMU controller can hold the camera steady on long zooms. Right now this is done with heavy fluid-based gyro systems on the big aerostats. That limits most MAV's to 10x zoom. We are trying to minimize rotor vibration effects on the image but it could also give the BiB longer range zoom with lighter payload weight. We may switch from carbon fiber to wood props also since CF flexes at high speeds and wood is more rigid. Wood--funny how high tech isn't always the best solution. They are flying an MAV for aerials at Gezer this year without me. Another evidence of technology diffusion I think. Best regards, IJO
