If I was BP, if be worried about Teva or Elan buying or partnering here. A drug that complements and/or replaces any of the statins ought to scare the crap out of them to begin with. Then it gets bought or partnered by a company that knows how to play the generic game, and their cash cow is slaughtered. Vascepa is protected until 2030; Lipitor is already generic, crestor isn't to far off. Whoever pits the V plus statin combo together can potentially get a new NCE for what had been another company's franchise.
