I don't like spending much time portending doom and gloom, but my guess is that it won't be obama that ends the reign of man on earth, rather, a disease such as aids that is airborne... in nature, it is usually pathogens that pull a population back to carrying capacity, since we have annihilated most predators. I believe we have probably exceeded carrying capacity at this time, however, our technological advances and agricultural advances sort of keep raising the bar so that when it does come, it will not be just a minor die-off.
I am sort of bummed that most people do not differentiate between GMO's, which are responsible for many gains, with Monsanto, who have misused the technology for profit. Ever since Mendel and Luther Burbank and others created GM plants, the tech has increased world food supplies, but like anything else, corporate america has figured out a way to corner the food market at the expense of human health and biotic stability.
