GERS doesn't demand a royalty from licensed equipment. They get a royalty on the amount of oil the patented process extracts with the equipment. ICM was taught the process by GERS and stole the idea under a signed non-disclosure agreement. They sold equipment to the ethanol industry because they're an ethanol plant construction company. They taught ethanol producers the now patented process they learned from GERS.

You could put mice on a wheel chasing cheese with a belt that spins the oil out, the method of extracting oil from concentrated stillage remains the same and is still patented by GERS. No matter what equipment is used, it's the method that's patented.
