Are you saying they sold a license valid for only another two months or so to someone shady? Two months isn't enough time to make any money on it. Whoever the buyer is wouldn't, I think, be operating under the name of the old DHS subsidiary. Changing the name of the owner would probably trigger more background and financial checks. As would renewal under a new name.

Very little of this makes any sense to me.

Obtaining a license in Belize is surprisingly seamless, with application, investigation and financial review conducted within the first three weeks. Compared to its peers, Belize fairs somewhat cheaper too, specifying an initial payment of $50,000 for a period of 12 months, followed by a security deposit of $50,000 to cover any wagering fines issued by the Gaming Control Board. Licenses are renewable March annually, with fees currently set at $25,000.
