So maybe ABX does have the right to mine some land in Chile, is it Jorge's? NO They admitted that already! But they are still breaking the rules on their land, and if they leave in disgrace the minor fact that they never had the right to mine the real MINA PASCUA will be buried.
As for "making nice with Chile" can you say "Guilty as charged your Honor for a lesser penalty" or even "we will leave your country and we apologize for any wrongdoings."
