"Charts cannot take into account unforeseen events," so what are you suggesting with this redundant statement? If an event is unforeseen, how can it be taken into account?

EVERY trader uses charts. You're saying that you didn't compare the past prices to the current prices and attempt to forecast a future selling price when you bought this stock? Of course you did, or else trading would be blind.
