I have no idea how many are distributed by reps, so I can't comment on that... but if they are so readily available for free, then why are so many being bought on Amazon?

One Touch Ultra 2 Blood Glucose Monitoring System
by One Touch Ultra
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #9,843 in Health & Personal Care (See Top 100 in Health & Personal Care)
#5 in Health & Personal Care > Health Care > Diabetes > Monitors & Kits
#12 in Health & Personal Care > Medical Supplies & Equipment > Health Monitors > Blood Glucose

They update the rankings hourly. There are over 3.2 million products listed in Health and Personal Care. I don't think it would be anywhere near #9843 if they weren't selling some meters. Cheap as they may be, if you needed one and could easily get it for free, wouldn't you???

You don't think JnJ gets a cut of sales from their own products being sold(instead of given away)?

I know JnJ is trying to use the "freebie" model here, but that doesn't usually involve a third party selling their "free" product and profiting from it.

If these third parties were doing this without JnJ consent or more likely, buying from JnJ, I would imagine a lawsuit would have already been filed.

Also, that article mentions JnJ sells some of their meters at a "reduced" price.
