Sputnik... That's exactly what we call I-35 around here...the death highway.

There are tragic accidents reported every day...some of them so freakish it's a wonder anybody travels the road. Just a few days ago...the back wheels came off an 18-wheeler...one of them rolled down the Interstate, landed on a woman's car killing her instantly!

I used to commute to Austin every day in the 80s and early 90s....worked normal hours. However, as the traffic worsened I was allowed some flexibility (worked for the Gov) ...so was able to go in very early in the morning and leave early afternnoon avoiding most of the rush hour traffic.

But even that didn't work for long. Austin is woefully behind in building overpasses, commuter lanes, truck lanes, etc.
