wc, assuming that you're both running XP this is the way I do it. 1) Make sure all users are using a password. 2) On both machines create another user/password that's the same as the user on the other machine. 3) Share out the file folders you want and the printer. Right click and hit the "sharing and security" option, then check the "share this folder", give it a name and "apply" and "ok" out of there. 4) If you're using firewalls you need to set them to allow the IP's of anything else that you want to share with. I generally just set it to allow the entire range of 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254 or similarly with the 192.168.0.1 config depending on your router's IP scheme.
At this point the shares should be showing up in both machine's My Network Places.
