ATLANTA, March 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- East Coast Diversified Corporation (OTC.BB:ECDCD), parent company of StudentConnect, announced today that NFL defensive tackle Andre Fluellen, currently with the Detroit Lions, is partnering with StudentConnect to help make sure kids are safe when they ride on the school bus.
StudentConnect's technology provides real-time alerts to parents and school officials when a student fails to get on the school bus, or exits the school bus at the wrong stop, or any other anomaly that may occur during transit. In addition it provides other safety features such as monitoring driver's behavior, speeding, harsh driving etc. StudentConnect uses a proprietary technology for wireless communication between GPS and Passive RFID to deliver the messages. StudentConnect is a free service available to School districts at zero cost for both hardware implementation and ongoing communication services.
Fluellen's interest in the welfare and safety of America's children stems from his belief that being an NFL player makes him a role model, particularly for kids. Along with NFL running back Ronnie Brown he runs a football camp for 125 kids, ages 8 to 18. The camp will be held at Cartersville High School in Cartersville, GA on Saturday, June 22. More information can be found by contacting Nakia Clarke at Nakia@proworthyglobal.com.
"The service that StudentConnect offers is an additional precaution to help kids stay safe at key times in their day during their commute to and from school," Fluellen said. "I wish we didn't need services like StudentConnect, but society today makes that impossible. I believe kids have the right to be kids, and the community has an obligation to keep them safe. StudentConnect is absolutely free of cost to schools."
The Andre Fluellen & Ronnie Brown Summer Football Camp is open to kids from all backgrounds, and puts them through drills for every position on a football team. Other NFL players have helped out at the camp, including Cadillac Williams, Channing Crowder, Everette Brown, Sammie Lee Hill, Karlos Dansby and Jason Campbell in 2012.
