Ranger,

Had no doubt where you were coming from.

Try this. Nokia wants to do whatever it can to delay paying any money to IDCC, but that blind stumble has put them in the dunce seat.

If they shout to the world that IDCC has nothing but scraps left from their pioneering work in 2G after the Motorola injustice and THEIR OWN evil efforts in a "back alley" British court,....Nokia is going to look even more stupid being forced to "pay up" something like a quarter billion $US on a CONTRACT dispute.

Let's not overlook the facts that; 1)- Nokia actually did sign up for everything we are hoping for right now, 2)- they made the choices necessary to get here, and 3)- Nokia has already taken the charges necessary to pay what we think they owe. It's right there in their "reserves for infringements" account. Looks kinda fishy for them to be posturing the way they are when we put all that into persective.

FWIW, I'm betting that our old pal Howard "contracts" Goldberg beat Jorma like a drum back in '99. IMO Jorma is fighting that line for all he is worth, but that Howard's hook will not be spit out. Nokia is coming to breech, and their blood will be spilled across our decks. Sweet soup after a nasty fight, and plenty filets for tomorrow.
