If you are buying then place your limit at or below the asking price.

You can choose to "slap" the ask which causes an increase in PPS or stack the bid and hope the price drops to fill your order. There is a "line" you will have to wait your turn since limit orders placed before yours will fill first. Some people place their limit orders right after closing . If the PPS starts rising rapidly you will be forced to "chase" the ask if you want in.
