I think we know how this works.
Large-scale hardware-related service opportunities are likely to emerge only once the hardware is deployed en masse.
For mobile networks, that is at best three years down the road.
If Wave made software solutions for the initial stage, perhaps it would become incumbent. And when the hardware was deployed, some switch could be flipped.
But they don't.
Instead, they treat hardware security as an article of faith. Hence, by the time the hardware is deployed, some other company is already entrenched.
I've seen this movie a few times.
Why would I expect a different outcome?
