Of course if there has been no evolution then one is lead to the conclusion that creatures as they exist today are fundamentally the same as they have always been.

Yes and no....evolution exists...no doubt...it is a known fact, observable and can be tested....this is called micro-evolution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microevolution

Then there is Macro-evolution....this is an assumption that changes over eons of time will result in the formation of new species having DNA which includes extra information not present in previous generations.....this has never been observed or tested nor is there any tangible evidence available that this has ever occurred. The fossil records only show fully formed species with no transitional forms.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macroevolution

So no...small changes do exist within species.

And yes...if there has been no macro-evolution the conclusion that creatures exist today fundamentally the same as they have always been is correct.

Now the question...

where did they come from basically fully formed as they are

No one can answer this question with any tangible, provable, or empirical evidence. There are only assumptions and beliefs.

Conclusion....either you believe in macro-evolution...which can't be tested, observed or proved.
Or you believe species somehow appeared fully formed....which can't be tested, observed or proved.

Does that answer your question?...LOL
