The number I was assuming for influenza phase 3 trials was $13,000, based upon (what I now realize was incorrect) an average cost of $26,000 for phase 3 trials generally.

And, now you know that even $13,000 is too much. So, how much for influenza studies? Oncology, very expansive, on average $7500 per patient Phase 3. Removing the costs of scans and advanced blood work-up for biomarkers and we can subtract $3K right off the top. Long way from $13K you so generously proposed.
