You: Agreed...but you yourself also said "And there's absolutely no doubt we are descended from apes"...this seem pretty dogmatic ..no?

Me: DNA evidence, dearest. Biology is predicated on the Theory of Evolution - is biology all a crock? Corroborated evidence is corroborated evidence. Make of that what you will.

Me: It would be nice if religion refrained from making claims about observable reality. However, that is very unlikely.

You: Why would this matter to you?

Me: It matters to me inasmuch as ignorance is annoying. It is embarrasing that the USA is one of the most scientific illiterate nations in the world. And it matters to me because "supernatural" beliefs are dangerous. It's the kind of stuff that inspires some people to fly airplanes into skyscrapers. There's no way to discuss anything substantive with people who have convictions for which there is no evidentiary basis.
