Here is what astounds me. We've already been through this with the Cessna CJ-4 and Cessna rolled a Service Bulletin to address the issue and beat the FAA by a month!

In 2011 the FAA bans Li-ion batteries in the CJ-4 while the 787 rolls merrily along.

Why a company with Boeing's resources can't have a fix in by now (and they should have known about the CJ AD note issued over two years ago) is just beyond my comprehension.
