Flatcat, I recall reading initially that Boeing was trying to get a resolution in March, but I'm more inclined to go with the analyst from this article below.

Boeing 787 Dreamliners may not fly again for 3-4 months, says analyst

Boeing Co.'s grounded 787 Dreamliner -- the jet that United Airlines plans to fly between Denver and Tokyo in just a few weeks -- probably won’t enter service again for three to four months, says a noted aerospace analyst.

Yes, I read today that Airbus will pursue the older technology for now, but still say their design implementation of the Li-Ion would be sufficient. However, to ease their flight certification process they would change.

Airbus has said that the electrical design of the A350 and its lithium batteries would be more conservative than in the Dreamliner. The Toulouse, France-based manufacturer still believes that to be the case, though is going the more conservative route to ensure that the program doesn’t suffer difficulties on the road to certification, Muratore said.

Regarding your other comments, I think Boeing is taking a less hit than Lockheed due to the fact they they are more diversified with about a 50%-50% mix of defense versus commercial products. Lockheed is all defense. Below is an article from Thursday with which I agree with much of the content.

Boeing Co Stock Buy Recommendation Reiterated (BA)
By TheStreet Wire 02/14/13 - 09:00 AM EST

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Boeing (NYSE:BA) has been reiterated by TheStreet Ratings as a buy with a ratings score of A . The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, good cash flow from operations and increase in stock price during the past year. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company has had sub par growth in net income.

Yes, I also think the BA share buyback is supporting the share price. I also don't think that there are tons of sellers. I'm a relatively large shareholder and I currently have no wish to lighten up on my position. The government continues to print fiat and that added monies into the supply is still making its way into the riskier asset classes such as the stock market. Since Boeing is in indexes and various mutual fund portfolios that too is supportive to its share price.

Anyway, good day to you.
