Hi guys. I have an hp g71 computer I just broke out and have used lightly for about 3 months. Looks new, but bought with a broken screen which I replaced and everything worked fine for a couple off months. Now when I attempt to start or restart the computer, sometimes the hp logo comes on & sometimes not. The screen goes to white. Sometimes, windows starts (still the white screen, but I can hear the music that indicates windows had to have started) and sometimes it doesn't start and keeps either a steady or flickering white screen.
Ok, I press the start button briefly and the screen goes to black and then I hit the left mouse key and the computer trys to start. Usually 4 to 6 tries and windows comes up and the computer will operate as normal.
I decided to wipe the computer clean and restore it to factory condition. Did'nt help, same result. Sometimes I feel the problem is hardware especially when I hear the windows music indicating the machine has started, then other times, I feel it somehow is software because on a few occasions I got a message that the machine won't properly start and windows goes thru a program saying it will look for and correct any possible errors. I assume it doesn't find them as it then says it will restore the computer to a previous date. Still the computer has to be turned on several times to get out of the white screen.
I've tried a factory reset, installed and run security essentials and ccleaner with no results. The computer works fine when it finally gets a normal start. Never had or seen this condition. Anyone have this occur or any ideas? thanks
